This is a very good hardcover. Originally published in 1912, this copy is from Missionary Education Movement of U.S. and Canada and showing the copyright date of 1912 which is the date of original publication, this is NOT a first edition, but a reprint from the 1920's or later. It is in very good condition inside and out. There is light natural tanning from age to pages but they are very good and clean. The binding is tight and square. Blue hardcover boards with color illustration, dark blue title/author lettering are also very good with only light shelf wear to corners/edges.
It is a smaller hardcover, crown octavo size or 5" x 8" with 213 pages including index.
This is a biography of David Livingstone, the Christian missionary who went to Africa. His adventures became legend-like and he discovered Victoria Falls, escaped numerous near-death experiences including being mauled by a lion.
This edition contains 17 illustrations by Ernest Prater along with 24 additional pictures and photos. Three maps are detailed along with a map of Livingstone's Journeys in Africa found on the rear endpapers.
