The Wild Grizzlies of Alaska by John M. Holzworth is the story of the grizzly and brown bears of Alaska. Extensively graced by some of the authors photos along with a full color artist rendering of Ivan The Terrible, a famous Alaskan brown bear in captivity at the New York Zoological Park, as the books frontispiece.
The author spent most of his time in Alaskan interior in the fall of 1928 and additional time in 1928-29 on the southeastern Alaska Islands of Admiralty, Chichagof, and Baranof. The islands were excellent opportunities for studying the bears.
The book is a detailed study of the bears, their habits and characteristics, along with notes on mountain sheep and caribou.
