This is a near fine (almost like new) set of two leather-bound hardcovers in slipcase. Volair Limited Edition set 1977 First Edition numbered set, #2849 of 5000. This fine set is bound in maroon leather w gold design and lettering. Gold gilt page edges. Hubbed spine with gold lettering. Attached silk ribbon bookmark. Moire fabric endpapers front and back. Smyth sewn fine binding.
This set of two is in like new condition inside and out. The pages are still crisp, clean and free of markings. The fine binding is tight and straight. Leather hardcovers are like new front and back. There is no rubbing to gold gilt page edges as they are like new. The accompanying slipcase is very good but showing light shelf wear, some rubbing but overall very good.
This limited edition set from Volair is a fine example of the works of John James Audubon. One volume is the Selected Birds of America and the other volume is the Selected Quadrupeds of America. Fine full color reprints of Audubon's painting grace the pages. This is a fine set of reprinted Audubon works in a limited and fine binding edition.
