The Americans A Social History of the United States, 1587-1914 by J.C. Furnas is a towering work of history. Social history is considered history with the politics left out. This work reflects and recounts America's past and how it still bears on us today regarding how we live and think. It traces American traits for more than 3 centuries and speaks to attitudes and practices from before Colonial times up to World War One. It is a complete and definite work of historical study.
