This is a near fine (almost like new) large paperback. 2001 PRC Publishing. This copy is crisp and clean inside and out. The pages are still crisp, clean and free of markings. The binding is tight and straight, NO creasing along spine. The cover is bound in glossy thick paper and is clean and shiny with only a hint of shelf wear from display. This is a very large coffee table style book, Quarto size or 9" x 12" with 512 pages including index.
This book is a visual celebration of wildlife in Africa. From the savannas in Kenya, to the deserts in Namibia, to the rain forests in the Congo basin, the book covers them all. Climate and vegetation each receive a chapter which emphasizes the immense diversity found in the continent. The wildlife in the book is divided into surveys of hoofed animals, elephants, carnivores, primates, reptiles and birds. It is complete and detailed, an excellent reference into the animals and geography of Africa. Lavishly illustrated with stunning photographs that complement the text, along with an introductory text for chapters will set the stage for the animals and ecosystems. The book also details the physiography of Africa and the geological and climactic forces that have shaped the land. It is a virtual encyclopedia of animals and Africa.
