This is a near fine (almost like new) hardcover. 1986 Derrydale Books. This copy is crisp and clean inside and out. The pages are still crisp, clean w no markings seen. The binding is tight and straight. The full color illustrated hardcover boards are also near fine, clean and shiny with only a hint of shelf wear to back from display. Larger hardcover, rectangle quarto size or 11" x 9' with 173 pages.
750 Nursery rhymes fill the pages of this edition, all beautifully illustrated in color and black and white by Jessie Wilcox Smith. Jessie Wilcox Smith was an American illustrator and teacher. She was considered one of the great "pure" illustrators and illustrated Mother Goose books and the covers for Good Housekeeping fro 1917-1933. The Mother Goose edition was published in 1914 and many other illustrations have become beloved favorites including illustrations done for The Water Babies and more.
On these pages you will find favorite nursery rhymes including Little Bo Peep, Twinkle Twinkle Little Star, There Was an Old Woman, Wee Willie Winkie, Little Miss Muffett, and hundreds more.
