This is a very good hardcover. 1951 Golden Books from Simon & Schuster Publishing. This copy is clean inside. Only marking seen is previous owners name neatly written in "This Book Belongs to" space inside front cover. The pages are clean with only a hint of natural tanning from age. The binding is tight and straight. The jig-saw puzzle inside back cover is intact and appears to have never been removed. The cover is good, there is light wearing but overall clean and good. Inside color illustrations are still bright and showing barely any wear. Very good overall rare collectible Golden Book.
This Golden Book is written by Clara Louise Grant and illustrated by Campbell Grant. From 1934-1942 Grant worked as an illustrator and animator for Walt Disney, creating characters for Pinocchio, Dumbo, Bambi and more. His wife, Clara Louise was a Childrens writer and educator. They worked together to create the story of Ukulele, a story about a native girl's first encounter with the white man.
