This is a very good hardcover. 1960 Collins Publishing London. This copy is very good inside and out. The pages have light natural tanning from age but are clean and free of foxing or markings. The edition is bound in maroon imitation leather w Gold title and publisher lettering on spine. NOTE: previous owners bookplate found inside front cover on endpaper, see photo. Otherwise, no other markings etc inside. The binding is tight and straight. Maroon imitation leather cover is very good front and back with only a hint of shelf wear. there is a spot on bottom outer edge of pages but does not carry over to inside pages and is very small. This edition was intended to be carried with the owner for easy access to reading anywhere and is smaller size, 12mo size or 4.5" x 7" with 287 pages. Great to put in purse and pocket and pull out to read anytime.
This sequel to Little Men by Louisa M. Alcott is finely illustrated by John Gardner with line drawings throughout. Originally published in 1886, the book follows the lives of Plumfield boys who were introduced in Little Men. Now grown, the boys face real world troubles.
