She Stoops to Conquer is a comedy play first performed in London, 1773. Initially title Mistakes of a Night, the events take place over one evening. Most notably, the play is the origin of the common English phrase " Ask me no questions and I'll tell you no lies". Presented in five acts, the play is seen as a comedy of manners. This edition is illustrated by T.M. Cleland with intro by Louis Kronenberger. The play has enduring qualities making it one of the most performed and studied of the English comedies.
