This is a near fine (almost like new) hardcover. 1992 Time Life Books. This copy is crisp and clean inside and out. Pages crisp, clean and free of markings. Binding tight and straight. Cover bound in maroon imitation leather w embossed design front only and color illustration front. Only very light wear to cover, mostly at corners or edges. Imperial octavo size or 8.5" x 11" with 183 pages.
Time Life published this series in the 1990's called The American Indians. Each title in the series focused on a different topic of American Native history. This title, People of the Desert, features an intro that details the Indians of the southwest and their territorial claims. The mesas, mountains, canyons and cliffs are held sacred by the desert people and the land is intertwined with their way of life. Full color photos of spectacular sites detail how they are regarded sacred. Additional chapters feature Pueblos Beneath a Turquoise Sky, Kindred Tribes, Realm of the Apache and Navajo and faces of the desert. Lavishly illustrated with vintage photos, color illustrations and paintings, the engaging text and all brings the world of these proud people to life.
