In this book, Robert Middlekauff offers a panoramic history of the American Revolution highlighting the drama and anguish of the colonial struggle for independence. The book begins with the French and Indian War and continues to the election of George Washington as first president. Outstanding narrative of history. From the 1763 Treaty of Paris, the author charts the growing conflict between England and America. In order to show the intimate effects of war, he pays great attention to military campaigns and strategies and features extensive maps of major battles. The election of the first president of the newly formed republic brings the volume to a close.
