This is a very good hardcover. 1947 MacMillan Publishing. This copy is very good inside and out. The pages have light natural tanning from age but are free of markings, foxing etc. The binding is tight and straight. Red cloth hardcover boards are also very good with only very light shelf wear. Crown octavo size, smaller hardcover or 5" x 7" with 567 pages. The text is smaller print as this would be considered a "pocket book", small enough for the reader to carry with them, but regardless nice small copy in a smaller but quality reading text.
The Virginian by Owen Wister was the first literature book to accurately portray the American Cowboy in the American West. This edition is finely illustrated by Clarence Rowe with black and white line drawings throughout. The Virginian was met with acclaim for using American West history to portray and fictionalize the cowboy, bringing life on the range to readers of all ages.
