This is a very good hardcover, NO DUST JACKET, jacket missing. First Dutton Publishing Edition 1930. This copy is very good inside and out. Pages are clean and free of markings with only light natural tanning from age, no serious foxing seen. The binding is tight and straight. The orange cloth hardcover boards with black lettering are also very good with only fading along the spine and light wearing at corners. The binding is tight and straight. This edition of The Life Story of a Little Monkey is a lovely First Edition from Dutton Publishing. Illustrated in black and white by Kurt Wiese, the edition is translated from the original Polish by Francis Bauer Czarnomski. The black and white illustrations are lovely and engaging in detail. Front and back endpapers also illustrated on orange classic paper. Ferdinand Ossendowsky was a Polish writer, explorer and professor. He is known for his books about Lenin and the Russian Civil War as he was a political activist. This uncommon book by him is a charming story subtitled The Diary of the Chimpanzee Ket. This copy is an early work from the author in rare First Edition status with the orange illustrated endpapers front and back.
