This is a very good hardcover with dust jacket. Eighth Printing 1971 Holt Rinehart Publishing. This copy is very clean inside. The pages are clean, crisp and free of markings. Only a hint of natural tanning from age and no foxing seen. The binding is tight and straight. Burnt orange and black hardcover boards under jacket are also very good, clean with only a hint of shelf wear. Deckle edge pages. The accompanying dust jacket is good, it has shelf wear along edges and corners but overall good. Medium octavo size of 6.5" x 9.5" with 485 pages including index.

The author tells the story of the displacement of the Native Americans and forced relocation along with years of war against them. The history reviews the effort to destroy the culture and way of life of the Native Americans. The book rose to much acclaim and has never been out of print. The expansion of the American West is detailed along with the encroachment upon the Native Americans.
