Junior Classics The Youngfolks Shelf of Books Set of 10 storybooks Collier Publishing 1918 Illustrated for Young Readers

This is a good set of 10 volumes, hardcovers from P.F. Collier Publishing 1918. The hardcovers are in good condition overall. Each volume is illustrated with a full color frontispiece opposite title page with tissue guard cover to illustration. Each tissue guard is good EXCEPT Volume 6 which has a small tear to tissue guard and Volume 10 which is missing tissue guard. Each volume is clean, no writing seen and there is only light natural tanning to pages from age, no serious foxing. Each volume is also illustrated by various illustrators. The hardcover boards on each are good with only light fading. Volume 1 is wearing lightly along top edge of hardcover. A couple have very minor bumps to corners of hardcover boards but considered mild. Each hardcover is a different color with gold title lettering along spine which is very good condition with barely any wearing or fading to gold title lettering. Each binding is very good, tight and straight. They are octavo size of 5" x 8" with approx. 500 pages each.

Originally published in 1912, this set was published to introduce boys and girls to some of the best books for young readers. The set consists of nursery rhymes, folk tales, poems, fairy tales, myths and tales and included are excerpts from biographies of famous men and women. The set is titled as follows: Volume One Fairy and Wonder Tales, Volume 2 Folk Tales and Myths, Volume 3 Tales From Greece and Rome, Volume 4 Heroes and Heroines, Volume 5 Stories That Never Get Old, Volume 6 Old Fashioned Tales, Volume 7 Stories of Courage and Heroism, Volume 8 Animal and Nature Stories, Volume 9 Stories of Today, and Volume 10 Poems, Guide and Indexes.
