This is a good condition, leather-bound hardcover. First Edition 1947 Brown & Bigelow Publishing. This copy is in good condition. The pages are clean and appear free of markings. There is mild foxing inside front and back endpapers with occasional spots of foxing on a few pages. Most foxing or tanning occurs along inside edges of pages along binding but overall they are in good condition. (see endpaper photo for example of tanning/foxing) The binding is tight and straight and pages are tight to binding. This was published to be a fine and handsome edition, young in full leather with embossed design and color moose illustrations stamped front cover. In addition, the title is embossed along the spine of the cover giving the book a handsome trim. All three page edges are tipped in gold. The leather cover shows wearing, particularly along edges and corners. Super octavo size or 7" x 10.5" with 375 pages.

This is a definitive reference on hunting, fishing, and the great outdoors in general. It is edited by Joe Godfrey Jr. and Frank Dufresne w foreword by Corey Ford. It is lavishly and wonderfully illustrated by Herb Chidley. The illustrations are in full color and still in very good condition throughout the book. Game fish, game birds, and game animals highlight the color illustrations. In addition to the detailed text the dissects everything outdoors, the book also contains a dictionary of sportsmen's terms, records of North American Big Game ( although this 1947 edition would be outdated in regards to records), and major water flow flyways of North America. It is a very special book with all the hunting and fishing guidance an outdoorsman could desire.
