Jane Austin's Works 5 volume set Charles Bigelow Publishing circa 1920's Edition De Luxe

This is a very good 5 volume set of The Works of Jane Austen circa early 20th century from Charles C Bigelow Publishing, New York. PLEASE READ FULL DESCRIPTION as this is a 5 volume set. This set is very good overall. It includes Volume l, lll, lV, V and Vl. the set is MISSING volume ll. Each volume is bound in olive cloth with deckle edging (rough cut page edges). The bindings are tight and straight where the only indications of separation in several volumes is at the title page or intro page, please see photos. Regardless, the pages are tight to binding on the set. Top page edges tipped in gold, wearing slightly but a nice addition to this set. The olive cloth boards have paper pastedown with title, volume number and "edition de luxe" text. Only a hint of light natural tanning to pages from age and no markings seen and no serious foxing. Crown octavo or 5.5" x 8". Olive green cloth boards only showing fading on volume Vl and volume V has a bump to front hardcover board b bottom right corner. The rest of the hardcovers are very good with only light shelf wear.

This rare set is a reprint of the first editions from Jane Austen, but first edition misprints are corrected in this set and indicated by the words being enclosed in square brackets. They are illustrated editions with tipped in black and white illustrations with tissue cover. Titles included in the set are as follows. Volume l, Sense and Sensibility, VOLUME ll MISSING, Volume lll Mansfield Park and NOTE title page has small tear to right edge, but minor. Volume lV, Emma. Volume V Persuasion and NOTE this volume has the most apparent beginnings of binding separation at title page but still no loose pages. Volume Vl NorthAnger Abbey and showing slight binding wear at title page and this volume has light fading of the olive hardcover boards. Overall this is a nice vintage set in good condition.
