This is a very good hardcover in slipcase. 1969 Heritage Press. This copy is near fine, (almost like new) as only marking is previous owners library stamp embossed on title page, (see photo). Otherwise, the pages are crisp and clean free of markings. There is no foxing etc. Bound in fine burnt orange linen, the hardcover is near fine, almost like new with gold design and lettering. The slipcase is also near fine with only very light shelf wear. Super Octavo size or 67" x 11" with 305 pages.
This edition of The Alhambra by Washington Irving is illustrated by Lima de Freitas with 15 full page line drawings and 25 in-text illustrations that vividly portray the atmosphere. Intro by Angel Flores. The book is a collection of essays inspired and partially written during Irving's visit to the Alhambra in Granada, Andalusia, Spain. After finishing his bio of Christopher Columbus, Irving left Madrid for Granada.
