This is a very good hardcover with dust jacket. First Edition 1994 Dial Books for Young Readers. This copy is near fine (almost like new) inside. The pages are crisp, clean and free of markings aside from inscription from completion author Brad Strickland on title page: "To Ben who's not afraid of things that go bump in the night ! Best, Brad Strickland". Rest of pages crisp, clean and free of markings. The binding is tight and straight. The hardcover boards under jacket are also near fine, with only a hint of shelf wear. The dust jacket is good, there is wearing along top edge and several small tear but the jacket is clean and still mostly shiny, good overall. Standard octavo size or 6" x 9" with 153 pages.
This inscribed First Edition of The Drum, The Doll, and The Zombie has an illustrated frontispiece inside, opposite title page, from Edward Gorey. Completed posthumously by Brad Strickland who completed three books of Bellairs based on plot sketches drawn up by Bellairs before his death, this is a classic Gothic mystery. John Bellairs is the beloved writer of Gothic mysteries for young readers. Along with fictional character Johnny Dixon, Anthony Monday, and more, Bellairs books and characters remain beloved titles for readers of all ages.
