This is a good hardcover with dust jacket. 1950 DoubleDay Publishing 15th Printing, this is NOT a First Edition as the dust jacket features the Newbery Winner seal, indicating a later printing, 1950, as the Award was given to the book in 1950. This copy is very good inside, pages have only light natural tanning from age but are clean. Only mark seen is inside front cover top right corner, inventory mark "2-G". The blue cloth hardcover boards under jacket are very good, only a hint of shelf wear but very good overall. The binding is tight and straight. The dust jacket has not faired as well, there is wearing and small tears to top edge, but good as present. Medium Octavo size or 6.5" x 9.25" with 121 pages and illustrated endpapers front and back.
This classic novel won the Newbery Medal for excellence in Childrens literature in 1950. Set in England in the Middle Ages as the Black Death is sweeping across Europe, it is a dramatic story or Robin, crippled son of a great lord. Robin proves his courage and wins the Kings recognition and features all the pageantry and drama of medieval life along with the simple realism of the common folkways of the period.
