This is a very good hardcover. 1976 Puffin Books. This copy is very clean inside and out. The pages are clean and free of markings. The binding is tight and straight. The hardcover boards are very good with only light shelf wear. Boards are clean and shiny still and very good.
This picture book was awarded the Caldecott Honor in 1949. The story follows Sal, a little girl, and her mother as they go pick blueberries to can for the winter. They encounter a mother bear and her cub who are also looking for berries for winter - with one difference- mama bear encourages her cub to eat the berries while Sal's mother tells her they must save them for winter. Sal is confused and grapples with eating the berries - or not.
