This is a very good hardcover with dust jacket. 1965 Prentice Hall. This copy is very clean inside and out. There is light natural tanning to pages from age but they are clean and free of markings or foxing. The binding is tight and straight. Olive green hardcover boards with black trim are also very good with only a hint of shelf wear. The dust jacket is good shelf wear at corners and edges, including several small tear bottom front edge. Illustrated maps inside front and back endpapers. Octavo size or 6" x 9" with 273 pages including index.

What happened at the forks of the Ohio between 1750 and 1760 profoundly affected the course of world history. This book tells the story of two frontier forts, Fort Duquesne and Fort Pitt, and their part in the epic struggle between England and France for mastery of North America during the French and Indian Wars. A young George Washington was one of the principle actors in this dramatic struggle. It was Washington who delivered the ultimatum, sent by Gov. Dinwiddie of the Virginia colony instructing the French to withdraw from the Ohio country. The French answer was to build Fort Duquesne (now Pittsburgh). An epilogue describes the city of Pittsburgh and the book is illustrated with portraits, plans of Fort Pitt and Fort Duquesne, battle plans and historical maps.
