Sorry, this item has sold.

This is a good paperback. 1957 Eastern National Park and Monument Association, First Thus. This copy is in good condition. The pages have very light natural tanning from age but are clean and free of markings. The binding is tight and straight. The cover is good, there is wearing at edges and corners but overall still good condition. It is a larger paperback, Imperial Octavo size or 8" x 11" with 139 pages.

This is an archeological exploration of Washington's Fort Necessity. It is not the history of the Fort in its capacity serving Washington. In 1754 George Washington marched his weary men out of Fort Necessity. They were defeated and had little choice but to abandon the fort. It would be the only surrender of his military career. This book examines the archeological site. Detailed text is enhanced with over 35 illustrations. It is basically a report on the archeological findings at the fort and interprets the findings.
