From 1973-83 HBJ issued First Editions with first edition points notably "First Edition" and the letters BCDE, as they dropped the "A" which had prior to 1973 been added to first editions. This copy is crisp and clean inside. Pages are still crisp, clean and free of markings inside. The binding is tight and straight. Sand dune illustrated endpapers. Binding tight and straight. The dust jacket is also near fine and protected in archival clear cover. Original price of 10.00 appears inside dust jacket flap. PLEASE NOTE: as shown in photo, bottom edge has "99" stamped on edge. Priced accordingly. Does not carry over to inside. Otherwise near fine condition. Medium Octavo size or 6.5" x 9.5" with 391 pages. Black hardcover boards under jacket are also near fine.
This was Nelson DeMille's first novel. Published in 1978, it is a thriller novel, the plot being that two new Concorde jets flying to a U.N. meeting for peace in the Middle East are advised that bombs war hidden in the planes and they are forced to an alternate route. One jet ignores the warning and is destroyed and the other crashes near the ruins of Babylon. While the Israelis attempt a rescue, the occupants must defend themselves.
