SIGNED by author opposite title page w inscription " To Marge Happy Gardening Frederick McGourty". Inside pages are still crisp and clean. The binding is tight and straight. Hardcover boards under jacket are almost like new. The dust jacket is clean and shiny with only a hint of shelf wear from display. Royal octavo size or 7" x 10" with 250 pages including index.
Gardeners from all over the country have trekked to Connecticut to visit the perennial borders at Hillside Gardens. If they were lucky, Fred McGourty was there to give then a personal tour of the gardens he and his wife maintained and propagated. This book is much the same, giving the reader a tour of gardens with advice, ideas, and plant combinations that burst with color. Full of color photographs, the readers further finds inspiration in the detailed garden ideas and designs. The first part of the book deals with perennial borders and the second part addresses moving plants, coping with leaves and deer along with how to manage gardens overall.
