Marjorie Daw is one of Thomas Bailey Aldrich's short stories first published in 1896. It is beautifully illustrated by John Cecil Clay, an American illustrator who is best known for his work in Life magazine. Written as a series of letters between two friends, it tells of Jack who broke his leg and cannot get around in the fine summer weather and his friend Ed who starts writing letters to him telling of a beautiful and kind woman named Marjorie Daw. Jack becomes quite smitten imagining the beautiful Marjorie. As the letters progress we find some revelations about Marjorie from Ed.
