This is very good hardcover, no dust jacket as none issued at publication. 1939 Pocket Books Collectors Edition. This copy is clean inside and out. The pages are very clean and free of markings. The binding is still tight and straight. Bound in green half faux leather with design boards, this edition is in "pocket" size, 12mo 5"x7" with 217 pages not including "Note about the Author" at the end. There is light natural tanning to page edges but no serious foxing etc. The cover is very good with only light shelf wear to corners and edge. Title lettering on spine in gold is very good and still clear.
These popular "pocket books" were printed for ease of carrying and reading anytime. Classic titles were printed in the series to bring literature to readers of all ages and levels. This edition is very nicely illustrated by Julian Brazelton in black and white line drawings. Nice addition to any literary library.
