This is a fine leather bound hardcover. Franklin Library 1980 Signed Limited Edition. This copy is fine, like new inside and out. Pages are crisp and clean, free of markings. Bound in blue leather with gold gilt accents and lettering, this handsome Smyth sewn binding is like new. Octavo 8vo with gold gilt page edges, silk moire endpapers and attached silk ribbon bookmark. Hubbed spine in overall fine binding.

From 1961-1965 the Centennial of the Civil War was commemorated. Catton published his Centennial History of the Civil War Trilogy. This trilogy emphasized not only military history but the social, economic, and political topics as well. The Coming Fury, 1961, was the first volume and discussed the causes of the war and culminated in the First Battle of Bull Run. The Second Volume was The Terrible Swift Sword in 1963, and The Third Volume, Never Call Retreat, was published in 1965. This offering is for Volume One only, The Coming Fury.
