This is a good hardcover with dust jacket. Saalfield Publishing, Akron Ohio 1931. This copy is good inside and out. The pages have light natural tanning from age but are clean and appear free of markings. The binding is tight and straight. Blue hardcover boards under jacket are very good, only light shelf wear along edges and corners. The dust jacket is good as present. It has wear, small tears along top edge and wearing along edges and corners. But, overall good as present on this 1931 edition. Octavo, 6"x9" and 312 pages. Color illustrated endpapers. No serious foxing.
Saalfield Publishing in Akron Ohio published Childrens books from 1900-1977. They are classic literature titles for young readers. This title, The Adventures of Tom Sawyer was written by Mark Twain (Samuel Clemens) in 1876. It is about a boy growing up along the Mississippi River and is set in 1840 in a town based on Hannibal, Missouri. In the novel Sawyer has adventures with his best friend Huckleberry Finn. Although initially a commercial failure, the novel has become one of Twain's best selling works and endures to this day.
