This is a near fine (like new) hardcover with dust jacket. 1985 International Collectors Library edition. This copy is crisp and clean inside and out. Black hardcover boards with gold gilt lettering are like new with only a hint of any shelf wear. The pages are crisp and clean inside, no mark seen. The binding is tight and straight. Attached ribbon bookmark.
International Collectors Library books were a book club series published between 1940 through late 1980's. They were intended to be affordable reprints of great literature. Octavo, (8vo 8.5 x 5.75 size). The bindings were embossed with 24k gold embellishments.
The Deerslayer or The First War Path was Cooper's last novel in the Leatherstocking Tales, and published in 1841. The novel is set in New York, the same setting as that of The Pioneers, the first tale in the series. The Deerslayer is considered the prequel to the rest of the series.
