This is a near fine (like new) hardcover. 1985 International Collectors Library Edition. This copy is crisp and clean inside and out. The black hardcover boards are embossed with gold gilt design and lettering, and are like new. The pages inside are crisp and clean, no marks or writing seen. The sewn binding is tight and straight. International Collectors Library books were reprint of great literature designed for the collector on a budget. Affordable series made literary classic available to the masses in handsome edition with gold gilt lettering and cover designs. They were published between 1940 to the late 1980's. They are standard octavo, 8vo 8.5 x 5.75 size.
The Yearling was published in 1938. It is a classic best seller and won the Pulitzer Prize in 1939. The beloved novel follows Jody, his family and the yearling, Flag as they grow and struggle for survival. The themes of loneliness, hunger, fear and family are highlighted as Jody adopts Flag and ultimately has to make difficult if not impossible decisions.
