This is a very good set of 4 volume hardcovers in accompanying slipcase. Complete set in original slipcase. 1947 Random House Publishing. All four volumes in this set are very good inside and out. NOTE: Volume Man and the States - The Political Thinkers is very good inside BUT inside front cover binding is showing between the blank and half title pages BUT pages are still tight to binding, see photo. Only spot seen with this caveat. The pages on all 4 volumes inside are clean with only very light natural tanning from age. The red cloth hardcover boards are also very good with only a hint of shelf wear and only light fading is along the spines but the title/publisher lettering along spine clear and legible not faded out. Bindings on all are tight and square with only the aforementioned caveat to one volume. The slipcase is good and solid BUT does have shelf wear and scuffing to back as shown in photo. Each hardcover is 8vo in size, or 5"x8".
Titles in this set include The Speculative Philosophers, The Political Philosophers, The Philosophers of Science, and The Social Philosophers. From Einstein to Freud, Copernicus to Thoreau, the great critical thinkers of the world come together in this set. Handsome gift or addition for any library.
