This is a good hardcover, NO slip case as originally published. 1944 Random House. This copy is very good inside as the pages only have light natural tanning from age and are clean and free of markings. **NOTE** the previous owners name is neatly written inside front cover top corner (see photos) but rest of pages no markings seen. There is no real foxing, just light natural tanning to pages. The binding is tight and straight. The illustrated cover is good, there is wearing along top and bottom edges, bottom corner wearing. Illustrated front and back hardcover w green cloth spine and gold lettering. The title lettering is wearing but still good. Priced accordingly.
This novel by Emily Brontë, published in 1847, was initially published under the pseudonym Ellis Bell. The novel, influenced by Romanticism and Gothic fiction, is considered a classic of English literature. The beloved tale of two families living on the West Yorkshire moors and their turbulent relationship, has been reprinted, reproduced and translated repeatedly and will continue to hold its place amongst the best of literature. This nice printing with the wood engravings by Fritz Eichenberg is a very nice addition to any literary library.
