This title is one of the set of Oxford Illustrated Dickens published with the original illustrations and compiled into a set of 21 volumes. The series is the most comprehensive illustrated Dickens compiled into a set. Each volume includes original illustrations that appeared in Dickens early works. The text is derived from the Charles Dickens Edition, revised by the author in the 1860's.
The Pickwick Papers was written when Dickens was only 25 yrs old. It brought him immense popularity. Mr Pickwick is general chairman of the Pickwick Club, whose members form a society to report their adventures and observations. From these reports emerge some of Dickens most memorable and favorite characters.
