This is a very good hardcover, NO dust jacket. 1970 Fifth Impression Harper & Row Publishing. this copy is very good inside and out. Inside pages are very clean and free of markings. The binding is tight and straight. The cloth hardcover is very good with impression of The Beagle on front cover. Title lettering and author name on spine is worn but apparent. There is no foxing or tanning inside and green cloth hardcover boards very good showing only light wear at corners. Again, dust jacket MISSING.
This is a wonderful narrative account of Darwin's 5 yr expedition as a naturalist on board the HMS Beagle. In 1831 Charles Darwin was age 22, a young naturalist, and aboard the Beagle. At that time he had no quarrel with creation as explained in Genesis, but everything would change on this voyage. The Galapagos Islands, the fossilized seashells gathered in the Andes, and the people he encounter all paved the way for his groundbreaking (if not controversial) Origin of Species.
This book is well narrated and detailed and lavishly enhanced with both black and white and full color illustrations.
