This is a very good hardcover with dust jacket. 1989 Third Printing Knopf Publishing. This is a very good condition copy inside and out. Pages are still crisp and clean, no markings seen. It is still crisp inside and the binding is tight and straight. Hardcover boards under jacket are very good with some light shelf wear/fading along spine. Dust jacket is very good, the jacket is still clean and shiny. Standard medium octavo book size or 6.5" x 9.5" with 946 pages including index.
This book was published in 1989, the bicentenary of the French Revolution. The book was Schama's long-awaited study of the history of the revolution. At the heart of this account is the transformation that permanently altered the history of Europe - of "subjects" to "citizens".
