This is a fine, as new leather-bound special Collectors Edition. Easton Press 1977. This copy is as new, crisp, clean, free of markings inside and out. This edition is bound in genuine leather. Gold lettering and accents on leather fine binding. Hubbed spine. Gold gilt page edges. Vellum endpapers with attached silk ribbon bookmark. Smyth sewn fine binding with hidden muslin joints. Into by Nicholas Monsarrat with color lithographs by Lynd Ward. As with all Easton Press Collectors Editions, the color illustrated frontispiece was specially commissioned for this edition and like other special contents is copyright Easton Press 1977.
The publishers preface speaks to the general opinion that this if the finest of Conrad's works, but there are several contenders for that rank among Conrad's acclaimed publications. Lord Jim has the sea and maritime places as its background, but it is certainly not a "sea story". Rather, it is a study of character as it unfolds in a background which happens to be the sea.
The book contains three double-spread lithographs and 16 smaller lithographs by Lynd Ward.
