This is a very good set of two hardcover with accompanying slipcase. 1962 First Two Volume Set Printing Houghton Mifflin Publishing. This set is very good inside and out. The inside pages are still crisp and clean with no markings seen. The bindings are tight and straight, fine sewn bindings not standard glued binding. The black cloth hardcover boards are also very good with only a hint of shelf wear. The accompanying slipcase is very good with only light shelf wear and as issued paste down of titles in the two volumes. Each hardcover is standard medium octavo book size or 6.5" x 9.5" with 555 pages Volume One and 657 pages Volume Two including index.
The Great Ages of Western Philosophy is a two volume set comprising six titles by various authors between the two volumes. Originally published in 6 volumes in the 1950's, this edition was revised into a two volume set containing all 6 original books. Volume One contains The Age of Belief by Anne Fremantle, The Age of Adventure by Giorgio de Santillana, and The Age of Reason by Stuart Hampshire. Volume Two contains The Age of Enlightenment by Isaiah Berlin, The Age of Ideology by Henry D. Aiken, and The Age of Analysis by Morton White. Each contains an intro to the edition.
