This is a rare edition of Lewis Carroll's Alice in Wonderland Pop-Up book. 1960 Bancroft, London. It is one of Bancroft Publishings "Westminster" books. Illustrated by Vojtech Kubašta. It was printed in Czechoslovakia. This copy is graded fair condition. It is bound in color pictorial boards, yellow spine and cut-out cellophane window. Color double-page pop-ups found front and back endpapers. The cut-out window on front cover shows Alice about to fall down the rabbit hole. Other color illustration contained feature Alice and numerous characters. Kubašta was a famed Czech artist who designed other pop-up books for various books in the 1950's.
CONDITION NOTES: This copy is showing wear along outer front and back cover (see photos) and top/bottom edges. The binding is good, pages are attached to binding BUT please note first text page is 3.5" loose at bottom edge and will require handling care to not encourage further damage to binding of that page. We did not see any writing or markings inside. The pop-up endpapers are still bright and colorful some wearing but overall good with no tears seen. Back endpaper pop-up shows playing cards marching on the Queen's croquet ground with the front endpaper pop-up featuring various character including cat, hatter and others. Overall this rare edition is in fair condition and suitable for any collection.
