This is a very good hardcover with dust jacket. 1949 Fourth Printing New Classics Books #23. This copy is very good inside and out. NOTE: previous owners name neatly written inside front cover on first blank page. Otherwise, the pages are remarkably clean with with only a hint of light natural tanning from age. The binding is tight and straight. Grey cloth hardcover boards are also very good with only a hint of shelf wear. The accompanying dust jacket is good, it is showing shelf wear mostly corners/edges but overall clean and good. Standard 12mo book size or 5" x 7" with 124 pages.
The Glass Menagerie by Tennessee Williams was a play that premiered in 1944 and saw Williams rise to fame from relative obscurity. The play has autobiographical tones and characters from the authors family including Williams, his mother and fragile sister. It is a memory play and the narrator opens by telling the audience his recollections may not be what actually happened. The play opened on Broadway in 1945 and has been adapted into film and television versions.
