This is a good and solid hardcover in find binding. 1893 Houghton Mifflin Riverside Press Revised and Illustrated Edition. This copy is very clean inside and out. Pages are very good, clean with no foxing seen. Marbled endpapers front and back. Attached satin ribbon bookmark worn but present. All 3 page edges tipped in gold. The binding features raised (hubbed) spine with gold design lettering and front and back boards feature impressionist tree. The hardcover boards are very good given age and showing light wearing along bottom edge/corners. Sewn binding ensure durability and fine binding touch. Inside front and back cover there is gold filigree design edging the marbled endpapers. The illustrations including frontispiece of Longfellow still appear with the tissue guards intact and present. Standard octavo book size or 6" x 9" with 495 pages including index
Poems of Longfellow is a revised edition originally published in 1841 and revised and reissued 1893. All of his poems and favorites are here including Evangeline, The Ballads, Complete Songs of Hiawatha and Courtship of Miles Standish. Sonnets are included along with an index of First Lines and Titles. 42 illustrations including the frontispiece accompany the selections. It is a fine binding collectible title.
